In an industry where clients are always looking for the latest and greatest trend, it's important to stay up-to-date with the hair, makeup, and skin services that people want. Federico Beauty Institute is helping students do just that through a new cosmetology curriculum that focuses on preparing graduates for successful careers.

Federico Beauty Institute began looking to change their curriculum when Pivot Point International released a new version of their Designer's Approach program. Federico uses the world-renowned curriculum as the basis of its cosmetology program, adding in some twists of their own.

"This was a great chance for us to re-evaluate our curriculum. We brought more focus to services currently being done in the salons and de-emphasized techniques that aren't as relevant today," explained Jeremy Federico, President of Federico Beauty Institute.

"Rather than focus solely on cuts and coloring techniques, we're also teaching our students blow drying, styling, and finishing techniques. When they can complete a client's appointment with a perfect blow dry and style, they are making sure that their clients walk out of the salon feeling beautiful and fresh," said Pam Knight, Director of Education.

Federico Beauty Institute is also offering students more opportunities for advanced education in this new program. Students have the opportunity to participate in advanced hair cutting and coloring classes. Hair extension and editorial styling classes will also be offered soon. Students who participate in the editorial styling class will learn how to do camera-ready work and begin building their portfolio.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in advanced training across the globe through Federico's study abroad programs. In conjunction with Pivot Point International, Federico students travel to a foreign country for a week or so, touring the city and taking classes at an international Pivot Point location.
