The education and environment of Federico Beauty Institute gives students the chance to train in a hands-on, encouraging environment. Federico Beauty Institute graduates often find work in high-end salons and spas where they are able to use all of their knowledge and training on a daily basis. Tabitha Claiborne graduated from Federico Beauty Institute in December of 2009, and is now working at one of Salon Today Magazine’s Top 200 Salons.

During Tabitha’s time at FBI she took full advantage of the opportunities that the school offers to students. She completed advanced cutting and color training, practicing all of these skills in the hands-on environment of her externship at a high-end salon. FBI also gave Tabitha the chance to participate in advanced education classes in San Francisco, assist at hair shows, and take classes with former Vidal Sassoon instructors. This extensive training and access to industry leaders gave Tabitha the important education she needed to succeed in the beauty industry and become a stylist at Misbehavin Spa and Salon in Walla Walla, Washington.

Misbehavin Spa and Salon was recently named one of the Top 200 Salons in the United States by Salon Today Magazine. Salon Today Magazine rates salons and spas across the country, honoring salon growth and best business practices. Making the list of the top 200 is a prestigious industry award, and Tabitha was hired at a salon on this list only a month after her graduation! She credits FBI with giving her the background she needed to land the job and succeed in the advanced training program that she is currently participating in at the salon.

“In the words of the salon educator, I am progressing faster than any of the other associates,” said Tabitha.

It wasn’t just the extensive education that Tabitha received that has helped her career so far. The state board preparation and career services available to all Federico students also helped her achieve her goals. While Tabitha admits that the state board exam is not easy, she does feel that FBI’s training gave her an edge, helping her pass the exam on her first try.

“I was absolutely 100% prepared for each procedure and had no question in my mind about whether or not I was doing the right thing. I did pass and I am thankful that Federico drilled state board preparation throughout the entire course of my education,” she said.

She is also grateful for the career services that were available. FBI staff helped her write a resume and prepare documentation for all of the advanced education she received during her time at school. They also helped her prepare for interviews, which helped alleviate some of the nerves she was feeling about her job hunt.

As Tabitha explained, “It was a great feeling to be able to walk into an interview with documentation of all the advanced training I had already received during my training at Federico.”

Federico Beauty Institute is very proud of the dedication and passion that Tabitha has demonstrated in her training, and the start of her career. And Tabitha is grateful for the opportunities that FBI gave her. “For me, it was literally life changing. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to get an advanced education that has given me the knowledge and confidence I needed to start a successful career,” Tabitha said. “I feel so blessed that I was able to successfully complete my training at a school that I would describe as the ‘best of the best.’”
