Every day, great acts of kindness take place: food drives, fundraisers for local charities, supplies are donated to areas devastated by natural disasters. Last year, 70% of all American households donated money to worthy causes. These charitable acts and volunteer efforts have a tremendous impact on the fabric of our lives. And those who volunteer readily agree that they receive as much as they give.

Federico Beauty Institute has long believed that volunteerism and supporting one's community are important to the success and growth of individuals as well as business. We also strongly believe that contributions made by members of our salon community should be recognized and celebrated.

Anne Federico's desire to help improve other's lives starting with one small project and blossomed into a lifelong passion. She saw a need and found a way to fill it. In the spirit of her commitment to helping others, the Federico family challenges other beauty

professionals to give back to the community.

Anne devoted her time and skills to supporting and developing philanthropic projects that beautified the community. Her devotion to empowering women who had undergone chemotherapy inspired her to launch the Sacramento Wig Bank. With generous donations from the American Cancer Society and industry vendors, the Sacramento Wig Bank continues to provide free wigs and styling services to hundreds of women in need of a boost while coping with the damaging effects of cancer.

In memory of Anne, the Federico family established the annual Insp!re award program. The Insp!re award honors local salon owners, beauty professionals and/or individuals who are part of the beauty industry for social responsibility and outstanding involvement in community service programs in the greater Sacramento region.

So, if you're passionate about an issue do something about it! Create a community service program for the entire salon to participate in, or get together and volunteer with local nonprofits. Organize a fundraiser at their salon for a local charity or offer

salon-quality services to people that are unable to afford them.

The personal fulfillment of volunteering has a ripple effect that will amaze, even inspire others. Together, we can all create a community that is beautiful from the inside out.
